ArtiZEN has committed to being an industry leader in Green Building and sustainable business practices. To this end, we've initiated a Sustainability Program, beginning with an inventory of our greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. Through collaboration with EcoTrust Canada, we plan on reducing and/or offsetting 100% of our carbon footprint by early 2009. We look forward to being one of the first Carbon Neutral renovators in the Vancouver area, and we call on all our peers in the construction industry to follow suit.
In addition to our own emissions, we're also targeting what's known under the GHG Protocol as "Scope 3" emissions. These are the indirect emissions that result from doing business with other entities that are not Carbon Neutral. By campaigning our supply chain to neutralize their carbon footprint, and sourcing materials that have less embodied carbon emissions, we're further reducing our overall impact on the environment.
"Only by working together can we overcome the challenges we face today."
Also planned for 2009 is the Canada Green Building Council's launch of LEED for Homes. This means the LEED certification that was previously applicable only to commercial buildings and high-rise residential buildings, will now also apply to single-family dwellings. Our on-staff LEED Accredited Professional will be available upon request to provide information on the benefits of LEED certification, and to manage the LEED certification of any project that qualifies. Another service we're happy to provide in the name of Green Building and sustainable business practices.
ArtiZEN's committment to the environment is entrenched in our Mission Statement. However, only by working together can we overcome the challenges we face today, and ensure a healthy, beautiful planet for our children and grandchildren to enjoy. We hope you share our vision of the future, and invite you to contact us about your Green Renovation or Green Building project today.
