(Federal Government) EcoEnergy Grants
These are grants to help ease the burden of making changes to your home that will improve its energy efficiency.
- Each family can claim up to $5000 for work performed on your home. This is in addition to the renovation tax credits, if done within the correct time for that program.
- Work must be conducted before March 31st 2011, or within 18 months of their first evaluation (whichever date comes first).
- Some grants have just been increased by 25% (as of March 30th 2009). e.g. installing a new furnace now gets you $625, not $500.
- Mixed dwellings can apply (commercial/income earning and residential) as long as 50% or more is used as permanent residence.
- Only homes that have undergone a residential energy efficiency assessment by an energy advisor certified by Natural Resources Canada will be eligible for grants. This must occur once before and once after the work has been performed.
- Other types of housing may apply.
- The average grant is expected to be more than $1000 and will reduce energy usage and costs by approximately 25%.

The best thing about these programs is just because you are eligible for one, doesn't mean you are not eligible for the others. Qualify for all three and claim up to the maximum amount. There has never been a better time to renovate in Vancouver. Contact us about your project!
